Thank You for Visiting Huntingdon Gallery!
Huntingdon Gallery started in 2004. Our intention was to have a gallery where we would frame and display our wildlife photography. We also offer art from several local artists and limited edition prints from national publishers. Early on we started printing our own archival photos and canvases and provided museum quality mounting.
After a visit to the Windland Smith Rice Nature’s Best exhibit at the Smithsonian we were impressed with both the photos and the way they were mounted. Face-mounting photos to plexiglass was the most impressive method of display we had ever seen. The print is affixed to the back of plexiglass using a special adhesive and forming an air-tight bond. The sharpness, contrast, and color saturation of the image are enhanced. Diffusion of light is reduced because of the homogenous quality of the plexiglass. The colors appear more brilliant, more intense, and more sharp. Polished edges on the plexiglass allow the light and color to bleed out the edges.
We searched for a shop to provide this service. The only place that would do the lamination was a sign shop; their products were not archival. Their prints were produced on equipment that was used to print signs. Their policy was not to mount other images because of the error factor. If a mistake was made, they could not reprint the image.
After extensive research we bought one of the best laminating presses and use the highest quality materials. And, so, we print archival images and face-mount them to plexiglass. We provide beautiful professionally mounted images to last a lifetime.
